Lucius Junius Brutus was the leader in a revolt that changed the government of Rome, ending the Tarquin kingship and founding the first Roman Republic. His actions were spawned by the rape and consequent suicide of Roman noblewoman Lucretia. To commemorate Brutus’ glorious achievements, a bronze bust was cast of the 6th century BC leader several hundred years after his death.
