It’s not known who made or even who commissioned the roughly 1.5 million tile mosaic depicting the 333 BC Battle of Issus. In Pompeii’s House of Faun, Alexander the Great is shown confidently chasing down King Darius III of Persia on an impressive 19 ft x 10ft stretch of wall. What is known is that the 2nd century BC work of art was probably modeled after a painting.

It's in the Archaeological Museum of Naples. And very worth seeing too.
