Known as the largest kosher winery in California, Herzog is a major producer of kosher-certified wines in the United States. The 77,000 square foot winery is opened to the public Sunday-Friday.
The large tasting room/gift shop has an open and friendly feel, and helpful staff take you through the tasting of red, white and rose varietals. The wine-stacked art work behind the tasting table gives the room a more modern look without taking away from the open floor plan. The award-winning wines are available for purchase in the gift shop, or as a wine club member.
After awaking your taste buds, head to the Tierra Sur Restaurant headed by Chef Todd Aaron's (of Zuni Cafe in San Francisco and Savoy in New York). The kosher kitchen features delectable delights by using local produce to make creations such as a spicy purple haze carrot soup with coconut and mint cream, a duck confit with tomato rhubarb confitpote, mizuna Japanese mustard greens and fried spring onions, and desert made up of Magrath farms frozen strawberry custard with Moorpark blueberry beignet.

Comments, reviews and questions by other travellers

Hi Kimberly,

Thanks so much for the gracious review of Herzog. Both our facilities and wine/food we believe are second to none and we love seeing people objectively concur!

They are a great winery with tons of terrific wines. I recently wrote an edition of my newsletter about them which can be read here: www.yossiescorkboard.com/?page_id=800.
