Lower Falls, situated in the most spectacular section of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, is a magnificent and powerful waterfall. A series of spectacular viewpoints overlook the falls, and trails lead to the very brink where one can gaze straight down on a mesmerizing spectacle of violent white explosions as tons of water plunge 350 feet to the rocks below. Another trail has a steep metal staircase leading down a cliff to the base of Lower Falls, a vantage point where a brilliant rainbow formed by the ever-present cloud of spray arches across the canyon. Nearby Upper Falls is also worth seeing.
