The Great Walk is a walking safari that follows the courses of the Tsavo and Galana rivers as they traverse Kenya's Tsavo West and East National Parks. One covers 153km over 11 days of walking from fly-camp to fly-camp.
Essentially the Great Walk is an adventurous wilderness walk with excellent chances of "bumping" into big game. Nature is intact along these wild rivers and few if any people are to be seen. It can also be enjoyed on various levels from simply immersing oneself in the wilderness, to the natural history, the story of these great parks and the great conservationists like Bill Woodley and David and Daphne Sheldrick who shaped them, the colonial history of the Mombasa-Uganda Railway, the ecological role of its famous red elephants, the brutal poaching wars and even its place as a theatre of the First World War.
A once-in-a-lifetime experience.
