The view from the Singalila Ridge takes in five summits above 8000 metres, including Everest and Lhotse. The trails lead along the Indian-Nepalese border skirting the Himalayas, past the rice and tea plantations of Darjeeling, through jungle and rhododendron forests and visits some of the areas main monasteries (Pemayangtse, Tashiding, Rumtek). As well as the amazing scenery, this walk allows an insight into the regions culture.

The trail was blazed by 19th Century English Plantation owners and Lords and is narrow but well marked and quite level. It starts at Maneybhanjang and though each day or the seven to twenty day trail covers a range of elevations, it’s fairly easy going. Walkers camp over night in huts or campsites.
