Thought of more as one of the world's tallest mountains, Kilimanjaro is actually a stratovolcano. It isn't currently active but the fumaroles or vents in the sides of the main summit occasionally emit hot gases. They say that an active person can climb Kilimanjaro via one of the easy routes and that you don't need any climbing skills and it takes only five or six days (I hope this is true, because I'm supposed to be doing it this year(I was also told I'd be able to use my mobile phone at the top).
