Masaya Volcano is one of the most accessible Active volcanoes in the world. You can literally drive up to the crater and look in.

The park itself is a gorgeous site with lava rocks thrown everywhere from the last eruption centuries ago. As you drive through the dry grasslands to an empty landscape which is strongly scented with the fumes of the volcano.

The best part, aside from looking straight down the crater's opening, is heading to one of the view points and feeling like you are on top of the world!

Masaya Volcano is located about 15 minutes from Mangua, Nicaragua's Capital or 30 minutes from Granada, Nicaragua's colonial city and most popular place to visit.
The roads are in great condition and are very easy to get around.
