Dominating the skyline of Arequipa, Peru's second largest city, El Misti is a beautiful conical volcano, like Mt. Fuji but more than half again as high at 19,100 feet. It hasn't erupted in centuries but the lava dome in the inner crater still emits steam and gas. El Misti is a very popular mountain to climb. It is definitely likely to erupt again according to volcanologists.
