If the thought of Stratford makes “thou sleep’st so sound”, a visit to Shakespeare’s old haunts may not necessarily spur the poetic tempest inside you but perhaps encourage moderate gales. Visit the thatched cottages which house the secrets of Shakespeare’s birth and marriage and follow the trail around Mary Arden’s farm - Shakespeare’s mother. Trace the Shakespearean bloodline through to his daughter’s house and visit New House, where he died. Whilst an ale soaked tavern may be more appropriate for lunch, “Anne Hathaway’s” serves afternoon tea for those with a zest for authentic tourist experiences.
