One of Costa Rica's scaled inhabitants goes by the name of the Jesus Christ Lizard. It got the name because it can walk on water – or more correctly run on water. Now if you had the opportunity to see one of these you'd want to wouldn't you. In fact this is the kind of discovery that would tempt me into writing an article on 'Ten animals you haven't heard of yet but would want to'. You can see them, they're all over South and Central America, but where I first learned about him was from the San José Serpentarium (at 1st Ave., 9 & 11 Streets). Other famous inhabitants of this museum include the Terciopelo: responsible for more than half of the snake bites in Costa Rica, poison dart frogs and Boa Constrictors. Cool.

It's not a big collection – there are only around 40 tanks - but it's an interesting and colourful one.
