As well as its adventure sports pedigree, and the beauty of its scenery, New Zealand is also known for its unique looking animals. Pukaha Mount Bruce is a wildlife and conservation centre, set up in a section of forest to give visitors to New Zealand a chance to meet some of these unusual local creatures, including kiwis, kokakos, tuataras, hihi-stitchbirds and kakas or native parrots. The facility also runs as a captive breeding program for some of New Zealand’s most endangered creatures who are bred to release into the surrounding forest. Walking through the park you’ll pass a tree fern glen, a man made wetland and ancient forests of free flying birds and animals. For more information on New Zealand wildlife and it’s conservation you can check out the visitors centre which has displays and exhibits.
