Paris has been said to sparkle and sizzle and that's the essence of the Lido. Opulent beauty, love, happiness and entertainment, that's the real joy of life. Since 1946 this cabaret on the Champs Elysees has been one of the peaks of glamourous entertainment. The feathered, bejeweled Queen of the 'dinner and a floor show' format, the Lido is known for its leggy Bluebell Girls, who perform their softly erotic shows in costumes that would have Liberace dazzled - the general theme of them being a lot of feathers around the frame but not that much on the actual body.
Elvis, Shirley MacLaine, Elton John, Noel Coward and Marlene Dietrich have all performed at Le Lido. These days tourist money rather than society money keeps the Bluebells in fishnets and rhinestones, but the quality of the revue keeps soaring. Don't mock it, the Lido probably has the best looking legs on the planet, and that has to be a sight worth admiring over dinner.
