The Concertgebouw’s fantastic acoustics mean it’s thought to be one of the world’s finest concert halls and attracts famous composers, orchestras and bands. Performances of all types of music are scheduled, but the hall is best known for its Christmas concert, performances by the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and classical and jazz concerts.

The Concertgebouw has two performance halls; the main hall is called, Grote Zaal (Great Concert), seats 2037 people and features around 900 performances per year and the smaller venue, Kleine Zall (Small Hall) is behind the main hall and has a more intimate 478 seats suited for chamber music and lieder. One of the most memorable times to attend is during the annual New Year's Concert by the Netherlands Wind Ensemble part of the traditional Vienna Waltzfest.

Many well-known composers have performed here, from Beethoven to Bach, but bands like The Who and Pink Floyd also performed here in the 1960s.
