The Chinese Garden of Friendship is a walled in scaled down version of a traditional Ming dynasty Chinese garden in Darling Harbour just down the hill from Sydney's Chinatown. It's got a large mirror pond, a bamboo forest, Chinese sculptures and statues, a couple of pagodas and lots of really impressively sized koi carp.
The Chinese gardening principals of recreating the best elements of nature are used instead of more western flower-bed planting style, and it;s certainly a nice spot to commune with nature in the middle of the city. The garden also has a tea shop which makes a nice change from Darling Harbour's range of coffee chains. The only non-friendly thing is the entrance fee.
