Cheyene Mountain Zoo is one of the United States’ premiere zoos. Covering 146 square acres, the zoo is home to more than 700 animals from around the world. The zoo is perfect for all ages. My Big Backyard garden and petting zoo is popular with kids, and the Mountaineer Sky Rider, a chairlift ride over the park, is popular with the braver members of all age groups.

A trip to the Cheyene Mountain Zoo must include a drive up the street (just 1.4 miles/ 2.25308 km) to the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun. The tower, dedicated to American humorist Will Rogers, features an observation deck elevated at 8,136 feet (2480 meters) that offers a one of a kind, bird’s-eye-view of Colorado Springs and the prized Pikes Peak region.

The zoo and shrine are joint admission. If you visit the shrine alone you must stop at the zoo first to purchase your ticket.
