Yangshuo has become very popular for bicycle trips around the countryside. It is now possible to combine cycling with a more relaxing mode of transport - a bamboo raft ride down the Yulong River, a tributary of the Li River.

There are several sections of the Yulong River where locals offer rafting trips. The most popular are the sections down from the Dragon Bridge and from just below Chaolong Village. Most trips take about one hour but you can choose longer or shorter, within reason. Each raft can take one or two people. Flotation jackets are provided and should be worn as there are many small weirs to descend en-route. Bikes can go with you on the raft or separately on a tractor if you are a large group.

This is a very pleasant way to enjoy the countryside and amazing karst scenery. The pace is slow enough to take photos and to just sit back.

(It is also possible to use a vehicle for transport to and from the Yulong River, but a bike is recommended)
