Pettah is Colombo's shopping and market district, where you'll find both the open air bazaars and the high rise malls – or their equivalent. Part of the market vibe comes from the multicultural nature of this neighbourhood, which is also why there's an impressive mosque here: the Jami-ul- Alfar Mosque, which has a famous clock tower.
