Auckland's main public space, where they hold bid public concerts and events, rallies, protests, markets and any other kind of major gathering you can imagine.
The square is surrounded by the Edwardian era Auckland Town Hall, the city's main theatre venue the Aotea Centre and another cinema/ theatre complex. As you would expect to see in this kind of public space there are statues of famous locals and large scale artworks – including a huge Maori gate – which is in storage until work on the square is completed until 2010.
