Listed under Ghosts and Monsters in Salem, United States.
Despite the numerous reported hauntings in Salem attributed to the evils done in the name of the 1692 Witch Trials, the Jonathan Corwin House, home to the judge in the trials that sent 19 people to the gallows, had one man squashed to death by stones and four people die in prison, is the only building in Salem directly linked to the trials.
Built around the middle of the 17th Century, Corwin purchased this house in 1675 and lived here for the next forty years, including during the trial period. The house now serves as a museum to the trial period, trying to help modern visitors understand the background these unsavoury events took place against.
If any house is haunted then this one is, many people report strange sensations and visions when visiting, but if you think you're seeing a spectral trial you might be letting your imagination get the better of you: none of the accused ever stood before Corwin in his own home, interrogations were done at the Old Meetinghouse and Ingersall's Tavern.
