You can never spend too much time in a geodesic dome. All those triangular elements with their local triangular rigidity whipped up into a near spherical shell structure; they certainly are very fascinating indeed. If a golf ball is the closest you’ve come to experiencing this said dome, then a visit to California’s remote Joshua Tree region will bring you closer to this cool geodesic paradise, coyotes and maybe even Bono. Poor musical references aside, you may have to round up other spherical fans and those with a taste for something a bit different as this surreal wooden dome can sleep up to twelve people. You may end up arguing over the 800 square foot master bedroom and the seat in front of the roaring fire but the panoramic views stretching into the national park are enough to cast a serene spell over this experience. Attached to the dome is an activity wing with features such as an indoor swimming pool, exercise room, Jacuzzi and wait for it, meditation loft. This all opens up onto a patio which overlooks its own private valley. If this isn’t enough, yoga, hiking and horse riding classes are available, but if you want to bring your own agenda you can always run around the 360 degree wrap-around deck on the second story. It’s all so very…round.
