See the problem with hotels is that they’re all very similar; the soft lighting, the neutral tones and the monastery-like atmosphere. Well, the Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton isn’t. The 19 bedrooms are all individually decorated by ‘visionary artists’ with ‘pop subculture’ to make for a night where you’d probably just want to stay in your room and sample its delights. For example, the Rough Trade ‘Rough Night’ room celebrates the legendary independent record label with a single bed, usual hotel gear, crazy music posters on the wall and a radio deck to play the latest Rough Trade tunes on. If you’re looking for somewhere to fulfill the dirty weekend criteria then the Durex playroom should do the trick with its 8ft round bed, mirrored canopy, pole dancing area and plunge bath. It even has separate street access so you don’t have to face the rest of the hotel in the morning. How sweet.
