Gone are the days when a week off was fuelled by ninety-nines and a deck chair in the garden. Not to mention the disappearance of the “sensible wardrobe” in favour of a shameless sporting of an entire towelling outfit which blends perfectly into wallpaper and carpet with a chameleon-like stealth. It may seem like fifty years too late to start embracing the values of a mid twentieth century intent on entertaining itself with life's simplest of pleasures. Yet you can be sure that the patron saint of retro holidays lives on. In a small field belonging to a diary farm in the Isle of Wight, Saint retro's disciples take on the form of great, shiny American camper vans. Yes, a stay in the likes of the 1951 SPARTANETTE , 1962 Airstream SAFARI or the 1963 Airstream TRADEWIND will bring you all the glory of a vintage style trailer park holiday without the air miles. Just ten minutes from the town of Newport you can squeeze into one of these fine vehicles and you'll find fold out double beds, kitchens, showers and a walk in wet room. In true Enid Blyton style you are welcomed with a cream tea and told to keep your wellies close to hand. British holidays have always had that challenging factor and the camper van toilet policy is no exception so be prepared for midnight treks across the field to the farmhouse facilities!
