A spectacular route, the Great South Pacific Express carries passengers from Cairns in northern Australia past Brisbane's glistening blue seas and pale beaches, the Hunter Valley vineyards, the Kuranda rainforests and, of course, a sampling of the outback before turning south to Sydney - all in sumptuous Edwardian-style comfort. The train is as Australian as the landscape it showcases, decked out in red cedar and myrtle wood.

I think quite a few trains head up the coast here, maybe check out the Queensland Rail website, they have times of all the trains that run though Queensland.
