There are plenty of places like Kavos spread across the Mediterranean. For people aged 18-30, this resort on the Greek island of Corfu is yet another Mecca for boozing on a list that includes Faliraki, Ibiza, and Zante. Holidays such as this don’t really suit everyone, and for families I really suggest you stay away and go somewhere nicer. While the sun doesn’t stop shining, there isn’t much of a beach, while the town itself is close to dead in the daytime. Also, the place has a strange backwater feel to it that won’t endear itself to young children. If you’re just going for a hangover filled holiday with plenty of night roaming and lewd behaviour, then Kavos can serve you well. There are plenty of bars and clubs – and some of these stay open until around 9 in the morning! You will probably be able to sample everywhere in a week if you move from bar to bar regularly, so it’s not recommended for a fortnight. Not only that, but you might get bored of the dinghy surroundings and there not being a whole lot to do in the day unless your prepared to pay 30 Euros for a boat trip or the like. Drinking, also, doesn’t come cheap, and I did feel quite ripped off when our group ventured into the town.

Kavos is a good destination if you want a drinking holiday with a budget, but it certainly is at the bottom end of the 18-30 holidays available in the Med. For that reason I reckon that I almost certainly won’t go back there, I’ll probably sample another similar Med resort if I’m a young singleton next year. I implore you to check out www.kavosonthelash.com to find out the ins and outs of a real Kavos drinking holiday.
