This town in northern Armenia is often compared to Switzerland because of its quaint, historic look and atmosphere and cool climate. Beach, oak, yew, and pine are among the trees that are protected in the Dilijin National Reserve, a dense forest which surrounds the town. Jukhtak church is one of the local highlights, its location within the Dilijan National Reserve sets the scene of religious architectural wonder nestled within nature's beauty. Another popular local destination is Ijevan to Dilijin‘s north. Here there are three ancient churches, one completely ruined and another with a dining hall built for Armenia’s kings.
