'If you're looking for a spiritual high, you need to head to Cochabamba, whose 33m (108-ft.) Cristo de la Concordia is the largest statue of Christ in the world. In Spanish, concordia means harmony. Because Cochabamba is located in the middle of Bolivia, the local people wanted to build this harmonious statue as a symbol of the country's unity. It's hard to know whether the country has come closer together because of this. No one can deny, however, that there's something very welcoming about Cochabamba: The quiet plazas invite you to linger, the year-round springlike climate encourages you to stroll along the quaint streets, and the locals are friendly. There may not be much to see and do in the city itself, but Cochabamba is a great place to relax and get to know the people of Bolivia. Or you can travel to the small towns in the nearby valleys and visit some of the most colorful local markets in the country.
