Not as touristy as a lot of the Algarve because it’s a protected area, the Costa Vicentina Natural Park has some of Europe’s best surfing coastline. It’s a rocky coastline with some spectacular and quite scary looking cliffs alternating with smooth selection of surfer friendly beaches. Good choice of take offs with reef and beach breaks. I couldn’t choose a favourite I haven’t had enough goes at it but it’s fair to say there is plenty of surf to go around. One of the visiting surfers compared it to California and I guess I ca see the likeness in the cliff and beech combo and warm sun. The Portuguese National Surfing Championships are held here each year so you don’t have to take just my word for it.
