The Goodwood Festival of Speed held in July at Goodwood House, England, has become an established date on the motor sport calendar since its inception in 1993. The Duke of Richmond brought motor sport to Goodwood in1936 with a private hill climb, opening the famous circuit in 1948.

Although the hill climb is still a key event, with classic cars as well as modern ones racing up the steep road, Goodwood has a lot more too it these days. A 2.5km rally circuit cut into the wooded area near to Goodwood House has around thirty cars from the history of rallying providing thrilling demonstrations of sideways driving and the unrestricted access of the paddocks means that visitors are able to get up close to the cars and drivers such as Damon Hill, Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jackie Stewart.

The festival is a celebration of motor sport and car culture. Away from the thrills of the racing, a picnic can be had on the lawns of the House in the company of some of the most beautiful and innovative automobile creations, which are judged in the Cartier 'Style et Luxe' design competition. There are also various exhibitions and displays, such as the Technology Pavilion showcasing the latest technologies from motor manufacturers.

You can also get your own shot of adrenaline with the driving simulators and 4x4 driving and the junior festival of speed, with stunt drivers and more, will keep the kids entertained. The Festival of Speed attracts a wide range of people, from F1 drivers to families.
