The Ribe Viking Centre is a full scale recreation of a Viking settlement, reflecting Ribe’s history as an important Viking port. Reconstructions include an 8th century style market place where visitors can haggle with stallholders, a 10th century style manor house with a fully-functional Viking kitchen, and houses that would have belonged to blue collar Vikings. Visitors can see traditional Viking craftsmen at work, including a smith, a potter and a weaver.

The buildings are built using traditional Viking techniques, and the builders are happy to chat about new projects.

The centre is also home to a whole menagerie of farm animals, including cattle, sheep and beautiful Icelandic horses. Also on offer to visitors are falconry and archery displays, with the chance to get in some archery practice on a traditional long bow for 10 DKK.
