The Museo Egizio, or the Egyptian Museum of Turin, is possibly the largest collection of Egyptian Art outside of the museum in Cairo. Placed (strangely enough) in Turin, Italy, the Museo Egizio is the sort of attraction one could easily lose a whole day in. Mummies, statues, sphinxes, ancient papyrus, funerary ornaments, painted linen, three separate copies of the Book of the Dead...the collection is simply massive.
Ditch the guided tours and wander from section to section, and don't worry about the time. Everyone from Professors of Ancient Egyptian Studies to flighty toddlers are likely to find an exhibit in front of which they will stop, stare, and say "Cool!"
Unfortunately, this plethora of history comes at a price. Museum curators, seemingly staggered by the tremendous size of the collection, have arranged rooms that appear to be little more than warehouses. Relic after relic appears with little or no identification or other individual treatment.
Still, mummies!
