Climb up the steep stairs to discover a beautifully decorated house that retains many aspects from the era in which it was built - the 16th century. Wooden furniture, high ceilings and heavy curtains adorn the house where Victor Hugo lived from 1832-1848. The 4-story building, which was converted to a museum to preserve the house, has several remarkable, individual rooms including a Chinese living room, medieval dining room, and Hugo's bedroom.
Other rooms in the house are dedicated to telling his life story through pictures and words in a collection of drawings, paintings, and documents. Hugo is best known for his writing, and authored several great pieces of literature, including ‘Notre Dame de Paris, ‘Les Chants du Crépuscule’, ‘Les Voix Intérieures’, and a large part of ‘Les Misérables’.
