Kyoto National Museum

Listed under Museums in Kyoto, Japan.

This is one of three imperially appointed traditional art and craft museums in Japan. While the outside of the museum looks classical and European, the inside is pre-modern Japanese, featuring some of Kyoto’s best art and treasures once housed in the cities great temples, courts and homes. Japanese paintings, prints and calligraphy line the walls and glass cases house lacquer ware, sculptures, art and religious objects, kimono and other clothing.
