The Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum is a museum dedicated to the arts of popular music exploration and science fiction and is located in Seattle, Washington.
The Experience Music Project was created by the co-founder of Microsoft Paul Allen and opened in 2000. This museum contains memorabilia and technology from mostly rock music.
This museum contains many hands on activities and exhibits as well as displays to view.
The museums are connected and used to be charged as two separate museums but now admission includes entry to both museums. The Science Fiction Museum includes exhibits about popular Science Fiction figures and nominates one a year into their museum. Nominees come from four categories- Film, Literature, Media and Open.
Some current exhibitions at the museum include Battlestar Galactica, Jimi Hendrix: An Evolution of Sound, Guitar Gallery and Sound and Vision: Artists Tell Their Stories.
The archetecture of the building is a sight in itself, designed by Frank Gehry. It resembles some of his other work including the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
The museum is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm and is closed on Christmas and Thanksgiving Day.
