If you were to try to see every exhibit in this museum, you would find yourself needing at least one change of underwear; it is vast in here. Over 32 million specimens occupy 25 interconnected buildings including exhibition halls, research labs and an extensive library. Fun interactive exhibitions coupled with painstakingly arranged collections of you-name-it cater for kids and academics alike, though if you are with kids, leave plenty of time for the gift shop. Made famous in numerous on-screen appearances, the AMNH really has to be experienced to be appreciated. The full scale model of a Blue Whale suspended from the ceiling of the Milstein Family Hall of Ocean Life is a personal favourite.
