St. Foy is gradually getting discovered by more people, but when I went it was pretty quiet. I went with a friend who knows a lot more about where to board in France than I do, and when we got there I swear there were about 50 other people and the runs looked perfect and smooth. This is one of the best possible spots for freeriding, lots of interesting ridges and cliffs and then some rolling hill runs, all covered in powder. One of my favourite runs ever is on the Aiquille piste, it’s varied and fast but not scary steep. My friend go up to some crazy tricks and runs on some of the ungroomed areas and took me on a dramatic trip through a mini forest and over an invisible drop off that made me feel like I was in a James Bond film. People who know say St. Foy has consistently good snow. When I went I hadn’t seen it in may of the magazines or guide books, but since I’ve seen it in a lot more, so I’d like to say it’s quiet and cheap, but I could be wrong. If I was planning to go back I’d make sure I booked in advance and tried to find out how busy it’s become because when I was there there were only six lifts and if it was busy the queues would be pretty bad.
