This is one of the main snowboarder resorts in France and has been for years. But it’s also got heaps of space to it - it would take about a week to run all of the runs and trails. The park space is massive as well, with tow halfpipes.

Because it’s so big it’s expensive, from accommodation down to hire – which is really over priced, but if you can swing it to bring your gear and splurge you’ll be in amongst the best of them here. There’s lots of off piste area to explore and the terrain is very boarder friendly, think bowls and ridges and drops, exciting stuff. Caters well to freestylers too, parks and obstacles, tick, tick.

Of course it’s going to be busy on the weekends when all the locals come out as well but I’ve found it’s well set up, there’s transport and that sort of thing, though you will probably have to queue for the lifts on the weekends. Tignes is connected to Val d’Isere, which is even more flashy, but it means there is even more space to explore. I wouldn’t say come here as a beginner, yeah there are lots of schools but it’s almost too big to learn here, but it’s a good place for anyone capable and above, but again I wouldn’t recommend it to the top top end guys who’ll find it a bit ‘done’.

The atmos is more hotel than chalet if you get where I’m going? You’re more likely to go clubbing than sit around a fire meeting people. The atmos on the slopes is cracking.
