Laax is as close as you can get to a resort just for snowboarders, but it’s linked to Flims, its ski inclined buddy.

If you haven’t heard of it and you’re a beginner that’s ok, but it’s where the Burton European Open has been held for the last couple of cycles, which you might have seen the highlights of. Not many tour operators run trips out here which is why you find such nice, serious slopes, and you never have to wait for too long at the lifts. Pretty suitable back country terrain, of big bowls, gullies and narrow chutes, as well as tree pocked runs, three half pipes, two boardercross courses and two terrain parks. There are some good schools and this is a pretty good place to learn. Top of the game guys should try Vorab Pign and the poorly named Crap Sogn Gion, which has some of the best gullies I’ve seen. The Crap Sogn café food is more fantastic than it should be but just round from it is the Capalari Restaurant which is the kind of place you’d propose to someone.
