If you, like me, get bored on a beach, snorkelling is one of the joys of tropical countries. When there is great snorkelling, or diving, nearby, it can transform your holiday. Snorkelling is simple but thrilling - with just a mask and a snorkel tube (always available on location), snorkelling can show you some mind-blowing underwater displays, from colourful coral reefs to teeming schools of weird looking fish.

It's also an activity ideally suited to introducing children to the wonders of the world, from fish to turtles. From eight upwards they become ever more confident.

So wherever in the world you take your holiday, if its hot and includes a beach, take a mask and snorkel. Or better still, choose one of these ideal snorkelling destinations, and get more than just a tan.
