Maui’s western shore beach, also voted one of the world’s top beaches for about the last ten years, has Black Rock on it’s edge, which MUST be one of the world’s top snorkeling spots. Sharp and black rocks protect the fine, white sandy bottom from the worst of the fairly well mannered surf creating a safe haven for fish families and turtles love it as do butterfly fish, surgeons, colorful parrot fish, snappers, perch, tang, jacks, mackerels and porcupine fish. Restaurants and a path run along the 3 mile beach to some of the island’s nicest hotels.
