‘Glorious Devon - Combe House Hotel & Restaurant’

Combe House nestles in 3,500 acres of beautiful Devon countryside just outside the famous for its lace, town of Honiton. My delight began as we turned off the main road down a narrow lane darkened by the border of ancient twisted trees.

This is the village of Gittisham where a Rosamund Pilcher novel was filmed and which HRH Prince Charles described as 'the ideal English village'.

We then turned through the main estate gate and took the long and winding road up to be welcomed by this beautiful Elizabethan manor with climbing foliage and stone mullion windows.

A log fire welcomed us in the entry hall, nothing was amiss. A homely blend of contemporary and original furnishings and friendly faces meant a stay that was thoroughly enjoyed.

The restaurant has received a rising Michelin Star for 2007 & 2008 - it was indeed very good. The meal, the service, the Linen Suite with its enormous copper bath was a wonderful getaway, a place of peace and we agreed with the hotel logo......somewhere different, somewhere special...
