Elegant Georgian townhouse with renowned restaurant and period features perfectly placed in the heart of Dublin

You can play architecture detective in this gracious 1791 townhouse turned hotel right on St Stephen's Green. Once a residence for Dublin society figures such as Sir Thomas Leighton MP, then the headquarters of the Ancient and Most Benevolent Order of the Friendly Brothers of St Patrick, it was converted into a boutique hotel in 1997. Charm and history resonate as soon as you step through the classic Georgian doorway.

Inside, a high ceilinged reception room gives way to popular Brownes restaurant to the rear; ahead a lofty flight of stairs (or a lift at the back) ascends to the 11 elegant rooms on the 3 floors above. Though differing in size and shape, all come with antiques, silks, velvets, vintage prints and a warm welcome. Mod cons include large comfy beds, tasteful lighting and plasma TVs; ceiling mouldings and fireplaces are original features. Its plum position on the Green is ideal for business and leisure travellers alike - you'll be able to walk to most places.
