‘Jackson Hole’

With one of North America's biggest vertical drops and vast backcountry skiing, Jackson Hole is predominantly a resort for advanced skiers. With roughly half of the designated routes black or double black, experts will find an extensive array of challenging skiing even before they discover the backcountry skiing. Intermediates can find joy in the crusing runs, but will become frustrated at the lack of suitable skiing unless willing to sensibly explore some of the more difficult skiing. Although not to be recommended for a group of beginners, Jackson Hole does offer a beginners' lift pass, granting access to the green runs on offer. Although the resort has an excellent snow record, its low altitude means that the snow can deteriorate rapidly, whilst getting there can be tricky with no direct flights from outside the US. The nearby Yellowstone National Park, famous for its wildlife and hot springs, offers a unique off-mountain experience for a ski resort, whilst aprés-ski is varied, with both quiet and lively options to be found.
