One of Canada's largest ski areas, Banff offers extensive skiing with stunning scenery. The array of black and double-black diamond runs appeals to more advanced skiers, whilst heli-skiing is on offer, albeit after a two-hour drive. Whilst there is a nursery slope and selection of green runs, beginners would be better served in nearby Lake Louise, though intermediates will find plenty of skiing with 60 percent of trails moderately long and moderately steep. As the resort is primarily a summer location, it's prices during the ski season are lower than might be expected, whilst the resort's excellent snow record offers yet another reason to visit. The fairly lively aprés-ski in Banff consists mainly of a selection of bars, whilst there is also plenty to do away from the slopes in a day. However, early season in Banff can be exteremely cold.
