Listed under Skiing in Saas-Fee, Switzerland.
Based at 1,800m, Saas-Fee is a snow-range high altitude resort, with thirteen of the brooding mountains surrounding the resort exceeding 4,000m. The resort is very well suited to beginners, who can enjoy a selection of gentle blues having practised on the quiet nursery slopes. Intermediates, meanwhile, will enjoy the selection of scenic top-to-bottom desscents from 3,500m top to 1,800m bottom. With few tricky piste runs, experts would be well advised to fo further afield given the nearby crevassed glacier which limits off-piste activity in the immediate surroundings. With a mountain entirely dedicated to non-skiing activities, there is plenty to do other than skiing, with tobogganing and paragliding both viable alternatives to scenic walks. There is an adequate range of mountain restaurants, though lift queues can be a problem, especially at peak times. Despite the personal, quaint feel to the village, there is a lively aprés-ski with a selection of bustling bars.
