Portillo ski resort in Chile is the oldest in South America. It was created over 50 years ago and was the first resort of its kind on the continent. The resort has maintained its unique quality over the years and is a beautiful, private hideaway for those who love powdered peaks, exceptional views of the Andes and world-renowned skiing. The resort boasts 2 quad chairlifts, 1 triple and 2 doubles. It also offers the opportunity to use the 'va et vient' 'slingshot' lift – an unmissable experience. The highest mountain in the Western hemisphere, Aconcagua, is nearby, and the entire resort lies next to the spectacular Inca Lake. The resort is entirely centred around the Grand Hotel Portillo. There is no adjacent town which only adds to the exclusive, private feel. The resort offers coaching for complete beginners right through to world-class athletes. They do Saturday to Saturday packages and there is never time to be bored, with off-piste activities as varied as volleyball and beauty therapy. The heated outdoor pool and jacuzzi boast amazing views.
This is truly an amazing place and the arresting images and unforgettable experiences will stay with you forever.
