This is the perfect resort for families with skiers and non-skiers. There are great cafes and restaurants serving the best food of any ski resort I have been to and you can go straight from the resort onto the nursery slopes. You can then progress onto the bigger slopes so there’s plenty of opportunity to develop your skills.

Isola for beginners

Especially good for beginners, Isola 2000 is one of the smaller resorts in France. The ski areas are large with access to 120km of downhill skiing, and with the resort itself located above 1500m, skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible.

Isola has 47 individual pistes, some above 2500m which means there is usually skiing throughout December until the end of April. In addition to the ski runs and snowboarder’s snow park, Isola 2000 offers snowshoeing, skidoos and sleigh rides. The resort atmosphere is lively and there are a variety of restaurants, bars and cafés. Nice is only 90mins drive away so it is possible to go skiing in the morning and take a dip in the Mediterranean in the afternoon.
