Heli-skiing in Krasnaya Poliana

Listed under Skiing in Volga, Russia.

Crowded slopes can really bring you down when you’ve spent ages planning your ski holiday, heli-skiing can get you out of the crowds and onto some pristine powder usually via some spectacular scenery. Some of the best hills in Russia you can’t reach without being airlifted in, so you’re pretty alone out there, and the Krasnaya Poliana region is about as good as it gets: plenty of variety. It’s not huge high altitude but there are smooth, fat duvets of powder coating three rounded, wind protected valleys with carved in couloirs and smooth bowls and a forest lining to keep it interesting. Think really deep off piste with the odd (well spaced) tree and rock challenge. The best off piste is on the northern slopes.
