If you're looking for a way off the trendy designer path, take a detour to Rue des Paquis where you will find quirky and vintage items galore. The clothing boutiques carry funky individual styles, while the bookstores, sex shops, jewelry and antiques that populate the area offer an interesting alternative to stores in the city center. Big Swiss mansions lined with shady green spaces give the area a relaxed feel. Rue de Paquis is a great place to stop for some afternoon shopping and lunch if you're on your way to the nearby train station.
