Liberty of London has its own signature style, such a nice thing in a homogenizing world where shops seem to sell only variations on a standard theme. The style, in the form of ye olde skoole floral patterns and art deco era designs, is signature-ly stamped on everything from note books to material. In fact this is one of the few places in central London with a haberdashery department at all, let alone their own prints. The ‘pieces’ in the other departments give the impression of being selected with equal care, unusual perfumes from exotic sounding Moroccan or Parisian suppliers, carpets straight from where Persia was and all sorts of unique ‘must-have’ items fill the charming old Tudor building, one of the few things about Liberty more unique than the products is the building. Dark wood beams, imperfect because when it was made things were made by hand not en mass, and subdued lighting gives an extra touch of proper old blue blooded class.
